“Smart cities”-themed” 8. Istanbul Informatics Congress started with the first hearing at Cibali Campus of Kadir Has University by Marmara Union of Municipalities and Turkey Informatics Association. At the conference Hasan Can the Mayor told Ümraniye sample in Smart Municipalism.
8. Istanbul Informatics Congress started with “Smart Cities” theme this year. At the congress, ‘smart systems’ were dealt in all their parts developed with urbanisation notion in the presence of rapidly increasing world population. Also mayors that participated into panelling gave detailed information about the services that Municipalities performed in informatics field for more habitable cities, ongoing projects and acquisitions. “Smart cities”- themed 8.Istanbul Informatics Panelling organized at Cibali Campus of Kadir Has University came true under the presidency of Istanbul University Faculty of Management Academic Member Prof. Dr. Erdal Balaban and with the participation of Hasan Can the Mayor of Ümraniye, Dr. Mustafa Demir the Mayor of Fatih, Dr. Şadi Yazıcı the Mayor of Tuzla and Emin Halebak the Mayor of Lüleburgaz. At the meeting, services such as smart infrastructure systems, smart informatics technologies, smart products and smart buildings that Municipalities developed specially for themselves to make Istanbul more habitable city were shared with the participants.
HASAN CAN THE MAYOR; “MUNICIPALISM IS THE FULFILMENT OF ALL DEMANDS OF PEOPLE FROM PRENATAL TO POSTMORTEM”.
Hasan Can the Mayor of Ümraniye who made a speech at the meeting of Smart Cities gave information about “Smart Municipalism”. Hasan Can who started his speech with thanking to Turkey Informatics Association who contributed to the organization of the programme said: “Municipalism is the fulfilment of all demands of people from prenatal to post-mortem.”
“Developing technology found out the necessity of giving service of Municipalities to the citizens in different fields. This necessity imposed obligation about building a system that could reply instantly the demands and requests of citizens who could attain to the Municipality from different channels. From this point of view as of the Municipality, we built a system that could deal with the demands and requests of our citizens and that could reply instantly these demands and requests. By means of the system that one of our citizens who works at the Municipality has built, it isn’t necessary to come to the Municipality anymore. Our citizens can solve their problems by using technological opportunities from their houses, workplaces, Solution Centres that we have built in different places of our county and also from Taf phone boxes.”
“With the Solution Centre system that we have built we have provided that our citizens can reach to the Municipality everyway within 24 hours and they can announce their problems. In this respect Hasan Can the Mayor who mentioned that all of the suggestions, complaints and requests of citizens made by Call Centre which gave service 24 hours were notified to relevant managements and within time determinate as part of strategically plan comeback to them was made, stated that communication between the Municipality and citizens increased 500 % with the Solution Centre Activation.” Hasan Can the Mayor who said that there wasn’t any hungry and homeless person in Ümraniye declared that “in the Social Market that we’ve opened we’ve rendered the best service to the needers. With the ‘Social Support Card’ that we’ve delivered to the needers in our county they can do the shopping in Social Market where foodstuffs and supply of provisions take place. Goods that come here are equipped with barcode system as in all supermarkets. Besides the shopping can’t be done with Money, with the credit card system we load a determinate limit credit to our Social Support Card according to the degree of needy families that are registered in our Social Welfare Management. In terms of the limit that we load families can do the shopping for their needs in our market”. Hasan Can the Mayor indicated that “if any demand comes in the direction of meeting our citizens’ obligatory needs, under any circumstances we try to satisfy their needs within 24 hours. Our aim is to hold victim and lone people to the life by satisfying their needs”. The Mayor Hasan Can expressed that to give all kinds of services to the citizens, as of the Municipality we renovated Equipment Substructure and new Service Building of Ümraniye Municipality was designed as smart building. Right along with these, he also informed about a lot of services such as City Service, Call Centre, Solution Centres, Municipality Automatic Control System, Address Information System (AIS), Disaster Information Management System (DIMS) and Online Municipalism.
After the speeches, plaquettes were presented to Hasan Can the Mayor of Ümraniye, Dr. Mustafa Demir the Mayor of Fatih, Dr. Sadi Yazıcı the Mayor of Tuzla and Emin Halebak the Mayor of Lüleburgaz who participated into the meeting organized by Marmara Union of Municipalities and Turkey Informatics Association.
