Coming to the district as invitees of the Ümraniye Municipality, Sister City Fojnica delegation attended the activities of April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day. Juicing up the activities with their folklore group, the delegation then visited the historical and cultural points of Istanbul.
Being from the "Sister City" of Ümraniye, Bosnia Herzegovina/Fonica's delegation was consisted of 20 people, was well hosted by Hasan Can the Mayor of Ümraniye. Salkan Merdzanic, Bosnia Herzegovina's Fojnica Mayor; Azem Hüseyin Basiç, district chairman of Eziya Party, Mansur Paşalik, Mufti of Fojnica, and the folklore group, which was totally consisted of 20 people attended the visit, organized in the scope of 2010 Istanbul European Cultural Capital project.
Primarily, the delegation attended the activities of April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day, organized at Hekimbaşı Sports and Social Facility. Attending the march ceremony, the folklore group of the delegation performed a show there. The shows were much appreciated and applauded for a long time by guests. Then, the Fojnica delegation attended the live painting performance, where 500 children performed and which was organized by Ümraniye Municipality, and they watched a concert performed by Murat Dalkılıç, which was performed in the scope of April 23 National Sovereignty and Children's Day. The folklore group in the delegation, performed a folklore show in here, tool. Lastly, the delegation attended a tour of Istanbul to see the historical and cultural point of Istanbul. Mayor Hasan Can and Fojnica Mayor Salkan Merdanic attended a TV Show, Yerel Gündem (Local Agenda) broadcast on ÜLKE TV, as guests and they talked about the close relations of the two cities.
Salkan Merdzanic, Bosnia Herzegovina's Fojnica Mayor, told that Hasan Can, Ümraniye Mayor, hosted them very well; and he thanked the Mayor, Hasan Can, for his gratitude. Stating that they are very happy to be in Turkey, Merdzanic said that they were once more amazed at the beauty of Istanbul.
