Works for Üsküdar – Ümraniye – Dudullu - Çekmeköy and Sancaktepe Subway that is under construction by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality are proceeding unremittingly. By means of Subway that will transport 45 thousands of passengers on one way, area traffic will be relieved.

Works for Üsküdar – Ümraniye – Dudullu - Çekmeköy and Sancaktepe Subway that is under construction by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality are proceeding unremittingly.  By means of Subway that will transport 45 thousands of passengers on one way, area traffic will be relieved.

As in all developed countries, traffic is the most important problem in our country. Increasing of motor vehicles’ number swiftly causes traffic density with which highways can’t deal, besides increasing of urban population and driver proportion affects traffic flow negatively.  After Subway is completed, Ümraniye that takes place on the third rank with its 660 thousands of population among 39 counties of Istanbul will considerably find a solution for the traffic problem in the county.  

Construction works for Üsküdar – Ümraniye – Dudullu - Çekmeköy and Sancaktepe Subway whose construction has been commenced by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality in 2012 are proceeding unremittingly.  In this project that will considerably find a solution for the traffic problem of Anatolian side, the length of metro route will be 17 kilometres. Subway that will start in front of Üsküdar ferry port will work in the route of Altunizade Capitol Shopping Center, Çamlıca, Kısıklı, Ümraniye, Dudullu Şile Road Junction. In the Subway that has been constructed with bored tunnel technology there are 16 stations. Mean travel time of Subway that will transport 45 thousands of passengers per hour on one way will be 27 minutes.

Within the boundaries of Ümraniye, there are 9 stations of the Subway as Çarşı, Yamanevler, Çakmak, Ihlamurkuyu, Altınşehir, Imam Hatip High School, Dudullu and Necip Fazıl. A lane of Fatih Sultan Mehmet Street that was closed to traffic during the construction works was opened to traffic. Ümraniye Central site that is the other place where construction works have been proceeding is going to be opened to traffic as one lane in the earliest time.
