The Ümraniye Municipality lent a helping hand to the Turkmen, who continue to fight for their lives through hunger and poverty as they are massacred in their own land. The “It’s Time for Brotherhood Ümraniye” aid campaign, together with the Hayrat Humanitarian Aid Foundation, four more trucks were added to the six sent to the Bayirbucak Turkmen.

The Municipality added four more trucks to the six it had sent out before. Food, clothing, stationary, toys, blankets, diapers and other similar supplies, collected in the tent set up in Ümraniye Square, were sent off to the Turkmen in Bayirbucak. MAYOR HASAN CAN: “WE ARE THE CHILDREN OF A NATION WHO HAVE BEEN A SANCTUARY FOR THOSE IN NEED FOR ALL OF HISTORY”
Giving a speech during the ceremony, Ümraniye Mayor Hasan Can said, “In the Hayrat Foundation’s desire to send aid with us, the 10th truck of aid sets off today. Today we are living the excitement of our charity service.” Making a point about unity and solidarity, “They say the satiated does not understand the situation of the hungry; however, we feel the situation of our brothers and sisters, place ourselves in their place and try to help them. After we depart from here, we will continue our daily lives. However, we owe it to aid our brothers and sisters, with whom throughout history we’ve walked together, been citizens of the same state and who today live on our old lands and are concerned about saving their lives. This is our debt to humanity, Muslims and history. We are the children of those who, throughout history, have been a sanctuary to the oppressed,” he said. Talking about the supplies in the trucks sent to Bayirbucak and the methods of transporting them to the Turkmen, Mayor Hasan Can ended his speech in saying, “The supplies are distributed through the Red Crescent, the Republic of Turkey’s hand lent in aid, and with the direction of their representatives. May Allah’s blessings be upon those who have led and supported this aid. Along with the Hayrat Foundation and the Municipality of Ümraniye, I would like to thank the dear people of Ümraniye as well.”
At the end of the ceremony, the collected supplies were sent off to Bayirbucak from Ümraniye Square, accompanied with prayers.
