Having come to Istanbul as guests of the Municipality of Ümraniye, sister city, Bosnia and Herzegovina's Municipality of Stari Grad's Mayor Ibrahim Hadzibajric, Vice-Mayor Ibrahim Amina Delijkovic, unit managers and Stari Grad's elementary school principals visited the Municipality of Ümraniye's Mayor Hasan Can in his office.
In 2013 the Municipality of Ümraniye signed a sister city protocol with Bosnia and Herzogovina's Municipality of Stari Grad in order to solve municipal problems together and in time develop closer relations through this "Sister City" application. Having come to Istanbul as guests of the Ümraniye Municipality, visitors from the sister municipality of Stari Grad visited a series of various elementary and high schools in order to strengthen the sisterhood bond and observe education conditions in Ümraniye. On the first day of the tour, the committee visited the Necip Fazıl Culture Centre and received information on the "Bilge Çocuk" Project's trainings and education for gifted children and families. Afterwards the guests along with Ümraniye Municipality's Vice-Mayor Türkan Öztürk and unit managers visited the "The Çanakkale Victory in its 100th Year" art show and the various valuable pieces exhibited at the Dolmabahçe Art Gallery.
SISTER CITY OBSERVED THE ÜMRANIYE MUNICIPALITY'S PROJECTS ON GROUND
Bosnia and Herzegovina's Municipality of Stari Grad's Mayor Ibrahim Hadzibajric and his delegation visited the office of Ümraniye Municipality's Mayor, Hasan Can. Ümraniye Municipal Director of Education Süleyman Gökçimen, Ümraniye Municipal Parliamentary Speaker and Chairman Advisor Hüseyin Erdoğdu, Vice-Mayors Mahmut Eminmollaoğlu, Esq., Mesut Özdemir, Mustafa Küçükkapdan, Hakan Karataş, Serap Eşit Elveren, Esq., Türkan Öztürk and municipal unit managers also accompanied Mayor Hasan Can. Mayor Hasan Can expressed that he was delighted to have welcomed them to Ümraniye in such an amicable atmosphere and gifted his guests with paintings, neckties and foulards made with Turkish art of illumination (tezhip) at the Ümraniye Municipality's Vocational Training Courses. Stari Grad's Mayor Ibrahim Hadzibajric also articulated that he was pleased with Ümraniye's Mayor Hasan Can's hospitality and presented him with various gifts representing Bosnia and Herzegovina.
After the gift exchange, Mayor Hasan Can along with his guest Mayor Ibrahim Hadzibajric, met with the municipal staff in the assembly hall concerning 2015's in-service trainings. Mayor Hasan Can took his guests on a tour of the Municipal Service Building and gave information on the services provided by directorates. Later emotional moments passed as they got together with Syrian children receiving education at the Cemil Meriç Culture Centre. Also visiting imam hatip high schools, Mayor Hasan Can, Stari Grad Municipality's Mayor Ibrahim Hadzibajric, Vice-Mayor Amina Delijkovic, unit managers and Stari Grad elementary school principals talked with students.
Sister city Stari Grad's visit to Istanbul as a guest of the Municipality of Ümraniye ended after a commemorative photoshoot conveying the importance and meaning of the visit.
