The Municipality of Ümraniye crowns its 300+ lasting monuments with a large mosque. The Municipality started its excavation of Ümraniye's oldest auto-bazaar site for constructing its largest mosque.
Through its investments, the Municipality of Ümraniye continues to pave the way for rooted transformations of the municipality. As of December 14th, the municipality has started its excavation of the Old Auto-bazaar site for the construction of a mosque in its place, thus adding another lasting monument to the 300+ constructed between the years of 2004-2015. Having a surface area of 2350 metres squared, 1300 squared metre for congregation and a 2000 square metre colonnaded courtyard, this will be the largest mosque in Ümraniye. The remaining portion of the about 19000 metres squared property will be a three-story car park and hold approximately 1200 cars. Changing the region's skyline, the mosque will also have a three-story basement.
Planned to be the municipality's largest, the mosque's excavation began with an animal sacrifice. Along with Ümraniye Municipality Mayor Hasan Can, Ümraniye District Governor Suat Dervişoğlu, Ümraniye Mufti İlyas Yılmaztürk, Ümraniye District Police Chief Hüseyin Göllüce, Ümraniye Municipality Vice-Mayors and unit managers attended the first excavation. In the he made for the first construction work on the mosque, Ümraniye Mufti İlyas Yılmaztürk prayed for the future prosperity and benevolence of the construct.
Following the first dig of the site, the mosque's excavation began. Ümraniye Municipality Mayor Hasan Can expressed his pleasure with the commencement of the construction for Ümraniye's largest mosque and hoped for its swift completion.
