While we carry out our services as Ümraniye Municipality – Directorate of Cleaning Affairs; we act with an understanding that puts necessary efforts to ensure our people in the district live with prosperity, peace and safety; considering our principle of being the leading Municipality in Service and Quality.
GARBAGE COLLECTION
Garbage is daily collected from all the roads and streets across 37 Quarters.
Across our District, a daily average of 560 TONS of garbage is collected; and they are sent to Hekimbaşı Solid Waste Transfer Center.
SWEEPING WORKS
All roads and streets of our District are swept with hand and machines in accordance with a definite program, regularly; on 7/24 basis.

Across the District, over 1600 roads and streets are daily swept with hand and machine.

COLLECTION AND TRANSFER OF SOLID WASTES – RUBBLE WASTES
Production wastes caused by service/production industries operating in our District are collected for a fee, with contracts made, and they are transferred to casting facilities. Apart from that, modification wastes, rubble and similar wastes too, are collected and transferred for a fee.
In 2010, 17.000 Tons of Solid Waste were collected and transferred; in exchange, 450.000.00 TL was earned.
WASHING OPERATIONS
As a result of requests of citizens across the region and detections that our field control teams made; well water is used to wash our roads, streets and boulevards. Besides, upon incoming requests, gardens of all primary schools and high schools in our district, which are under the Ministry of Education, are washed.
CLEANING OF MARKETPLACES
There are 17 marketplaces weekly installed in our District. Washing and cleaning of these marketplaces is regularly conducted by the Marketplace Cleaning Team consisted of 13 people and through 1 washing vehicle, 1 garbage collector vehicle and 1 sweeping vehicle. Besides, nearly all marketplaces located in our District are set up on eves, due to Ramadan Festival and Sacrifice Holiday. Cleaning of these Marketplaces are carried out in the best way, and made ready for religious festival mornings.

BULK CLEANING OPERATIONS
Bulk Operation Team is one of the most important teams of our Municipality. The Bulk Operation Team, consisted of 28 people, carry out the cleaning of such places as highways, empty lands as well as all roads and streets across 35 Quarters. With the Bulk Operation Team, ultra-purification of the region is ensured, as well. Moreover, our Bulk Operation Team, which is directed to relevant regions immediately in emergencies, ensures that problems are rapidly solved.
CONTAINER REPAIRING AND MAINTENANCE
Repairing works and maintenances of containers in the district are carried out at their places, with activation of our container repair vehicle. By this means, repair and maintenance of containers are fulfilled at the shortest time.
In order to prevent bad views and bad smells, our containers are washed and disinfected with foamy and oil solvent douche.
CLEANING MANHOLE COVERS
Cleaning of all manhole covers in our district are regularly carried out by our teams. Especially in winters, when dense precipitations are the case, we accelerate our works in order to prevent any inconveniences for our citizens by preventing possible floods.
GRASS CUTTING WORKS
Grasses on pavements are regularly cleaned by our teams through grass cutters. Grass cutters we use at cutting grasses belong to our Municipality, and their repair is conducted by our own staff.
CURB PAINTING WORKS
As the directorate of Cleaning Affairs, we continue our efforts for our citizens to live in a healthy, livable and a more beautiful environment. For that purpose, curbs on roads and streets of our district are regularly painted.
Over 170.000 meters of curbs in total were painted in 2010, by the Directorate of Cleaning Affairs. This figure is more than threefold of the curb painting works we carried out in the past years.
INSPECTION SERVICES OF THE DIRECTORATE OF CLEANING AFFAIRS
Field Control Services and Bureau Services
- As the Directorate of Cleaning Affairs, we carry out our regional inspection services across 37 Quarters, based on 5 regions system.
- Our Field control staff prepare work schedule of vehicles and staff working in their regions, and conduct their tracking and inspection. Therefore, the best cleaning service is ensured.
- Our field control staff evaluates requests and complaints forwarded from the bureau of our Directorate, and they conclude them at the shortest time possible.
- Carrying out correspondences -inside and outside of the institution- coming to the Directorate; their follow-up and filing.
- Forwarding requests and complaints coming to the Directorate through phone, fax, petition and Solution Centers to our regional teams; their follow-up, solution and response.
- Requests and complaints from citizens about garbage collection are responded within the same day; requests and complaints about other subjects are responded within two days at the latest.
- Average response time of our Directorate to requests and complaints of our citizens incoming through Solution Centers is one day.
OTHER FIELDS OF OPERATIONS OF OUR DIRECTORATE
- Illegally hung ads, notices and posters are removed by our teams.
-Roads and streets as well as pavement surfaces covered with snow in the winter are cleaned by our teams. Besides, our teams work on opening the closed roads.
- Droppings wastes, animal wastes, etc. caused by animal sales points and slaughterhouses founded because of the Sacrifice Holiday are removed by our Directorate. Moreover, these areas are cleaned in the best way before the holiday ends, in accordance with the program previously prepared by our Directorate, and our citizens are ensured to experience a healthy and clean holiday.
-Besides, droppings wastes caused by animal sales points are supplied for the citizens who apply our Directorate through petition.
